This wasn’t his street, wasn’t his turf. And the longer he walked along it, the more he was reminded of it. On the corner was a hooker, whose name he didn‘t know. Not far from the hooker was a drug dealer, who didn‘t look happy that he was walking away. Across the street and down a block were a couple of gang bangers wearing colors he didn’t recognize, holding knives and wearing hostile glares.
The Autobots needed his help, but if he got away from this job alive, Tracks owed him so much more than a night on the town.

Summary:
Mike sees the effects left behind
Hunter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Kendra
She checks her equipment carefully as the sun goes down. Good shoes, non-restrictive clothes, lighter, knife, holy water, stake. Everything is ready for a long night of demon hunting.
She pulls her hair back into a tight braid, knowing that it will be best to keep it out of her face tonight. The vampires will be hungry and she cannot afford even the small weakness of hair in her eyes. When that is finished, she puts her mother’s gold cross around her neck.
When the sun falls below the horizon, Kendra the Vampire Slayer steps into the night to hunt.

He wakes in the night to sharp, stinging aches along his side--pain the doctors said he shouldn’t be able to feel because the nerves should be gone. It doesn’t leave him most of the time, except when he’s drugged out of his mind on the painkillers and can’t feel anything anyway.
But it’s never the physical pain that wakes him.
He sees the desert when he closes his eyes. The terrorists that came before the helicopter and the scorpion and then the rage and pain as the scorpion took him down. That failure is the hardest part to live with.

Mercedes knows that she's good. She's the best, that's just a fact.
Nevertheless, this moment always comes, after she breathes in, before she sings. Each time, it is endless, terrifying, longer than ever. Everything stills; time hovers incandescent, her heart gutters to a stop, the world recedes, and she's falling in place.
Maybe this happens to humble her. Maybe it's a sign that she needs to be more brave -- tougher and more self-centered. More Rachel.
In the silence, surrounded, dwarfed by it, she can only do one thing, all she knows.
She lifts her head, lets the song go.

"Shawn, we have a problem!"
"Yeah, no mustard," muttered Shawn, looking at his burger.
Gus sighed. "No, a real problem!"
"Since when is mustard not a real problem?"
"Your new car…"
"Say, Gus, I don't suppose you would want to head back to the restaurant…"
Gus left the office and shut the door behind him hard. If Shawn thought he was heading out for his damn mustard, let him. Meanwhile Gus would be out at the car, looking through the window. And when Shawn finally made it out to see the mother cat and all those kittens, he would understand.

'Infuriated', perhaps. " 'For someone with your gifts to dedicate your life to something like this is a criminal waste of talent and a great loss to science.' "
"Nathan." Henry's tone was carefully neutral.
"Fixing cars, Henry? Really?" He'd called in some favors for this, for Henry to be here. He hadn't done it to get Eureka its own mechanic.
Henry grinned. "I keep the other stuff in the back. If you're interested … "
Nathan breathed out. "After you."
2:53am, Keizoku 2: SPEC, Toma
Prompt: when the lights go down

A clang, below her. 2:53am and her grandmother can't sleep, so she makes tea knowing her granddaughter will be down soon enough.
The phone, to her right. It's hard to grab with her hand still in it's cast, but she becoming deft.
A foggy vision of characters. You can't sleep either.
She doesn't text back because they'll both pretend it never happened, and she lets it fade back into the night from which it came.

"The end," John says, his tone that of a prophet, "is really fucking neigh. Got a light?"
Man's taken up smoking again, apparently. Well. Who wouldn't? Midnite's got only one cigar left himself – for a special occasion. This isn't it.
"Thanks." John starts coughing the moment he inhales. Unhealthy living, no doubt.
"No more heroics?"
John stares out at the flames. "Who wants to be a hero anymore?"
